Michal Sterczynski
Michal Sterczynski arbeitet als DaF/DaZ-Trainer in der Erwachsenenbildung in Wien und ist lizenzierter ÖSD-Prüfer. Mit seiner Trainertätigkeit hat er studienbegleitend bereits 2007 angefangen. Außer Deutsch (A1-C2) unterrichtet er Englisch (A1-C2) und Schwedisch (A1-B2). Seine große Leidenschaft ist die Translation.
Als Übersetzer (Deutsch-Englisch-Polnisch) hat Michal sich auf die Gebiete: Wirtschaft und Psychologie spezialisiert, indem er u.a. Wirtschafts- und Werbetexte für polnische, deutsche und schwedische Firmen übersetzte. Im Auftrag eines Verlags hat er bisher drei Bücher (Psychologie/Wirtschaft) aus dem Deutschen/Englischen ins Polnische übertragen.
Gedolmetscht hat er auf internationalen Messen und bei Geschäftstreffen. Der gebürtige Pole hat Translationswissenschaften Germanistik/Anglistik (M.A.) und Skandinavistik (B.A.) an den Universitäten in Posen und Stockholm studiert.
Darüber hinaus ist Michal qualifizierter Sprachtrainer für Englisch (CELTA) und absolviert gerade eine akademische DaF-Lehrerfortbildung. Wenn er sich mal nicht mit Sprachen befasst, trainiert er Bogenschießen und besucht zahlreiche Museen und Kunstausstellungen Wiens.

Why did I become a language trainer & translator?
ENGLISH
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been fascinated by foreign languages. The differences and similarities between languages and language families, vocabulary, that on the one hand consists of many totally different words, and on the other hand includes easy-to-learn internationalisms, but then also false friends, that one has to beware of… At first I thought, it was impossible to master a foreign language – until I learnt how to do just that. Suddenly, there was this entire world of languages and cultures, that they express, within arm’s reach and I have been and always will be fascinated by it. Later on I decided to share my passion for languages with other people and that’s why I’ve been building my career in teaching and translation.

Jak tylko sięgam pamięcią, zawsze fascynowały mnie języki obce. Różnice i podobieństwa pomiędzy językami i rodzinami językowymi, słownictwo, składające się z jednej strony z jakże odmiennych słów, z drugiej strony zawierające łatwe do nauki internacjonalizmy, z kolei znowu poprzetykane tzw. fałszywymi przyjaciółmi tłumacza… Z początku myślałem, że opanować język obcy to jak walka z wiatrakami… do czasu, kiedy nauczyłem się, jak to właściwie robić. W tym momencie otworzył się na mnie świat pełen języków i kultur, które językami wyrażamy. Zawsze mnie on fascynował i nigdy nie przestanie zachwycać. Później zdecydowałem się podzielić moją pasją do języków z innymi ludźmi i dlatego też wybrałem taką a nie inną ścieżkę kariery.
What motivates me and what do I like best about my profession?
ENGLISH
It is a lifelong process to learn a foreign language, that’s why I’m thrilled, that I have a job, where I can learn a lot myself. Self-development has always been my number one objective. Moreover, I’m a people person and a day can’t go by without me interacting with others. There is also one other advantage, a more practical one, I used to have jobs, where I had to either sit or stand the entire time – now I can decide myself and my spine is thankful for that.

Nauka języka obcego to zajęcie na całe życie, dlatego też niezmiernie się cieszę, że udało mi się znaleźć pracę, w której jednocześnie nauczam i też sam się wiele uczę. Rozwój osobisty był zawsze dla mnie bardzo istotny. Poza tym, cenię sobie kontakt z innymi ludźmi, a jest także bardziej praktyczny powód: wcześniej pracowałem w innych branżach i musiałem albo cały czas stać albo siedzieć – teraz sam mogę decydować, czy stoję, czy siedzę, za co kręgosłup jest mi dozgonnie wdzięczny.
What do I like to teach or translate?
ENGLISH
I enjoy teaching adults, both beginners and advanced learners. In my courses, I put emphasis on oral and written communication. As an examiner, I take much care in preparing my students for language exams. As a translator and interpreter, I specialise in such fields as: psychology, business and tourism.

Chętnie pracuję z dorosłymi na każdym stopniu zaawansowania języka. Szczególnie ważna jest dla mnie ustna i pisemna komunikacja, a jako egzaminator, przykładam również dużą wagę do tego, żeby przygotować moich uczniów do egzaminów językowych.
