Catherine Joksch
Catherine Joksch was born in Vienna and grew up bilingual (German and French). She translates from German and English into French and from English and French into German. Catherine holds a master’s degree in translation from the Centre for Translation Studies at the University of Vienna. In 2013 she will complete her Master’s degree in Applied Knowledge Management at the University of Applied Sciences in Eisenstadt.
Catherine worked as a translator and project assistant in an NGO in the field of women’s rights in Vienna from 2007 to 2010 and has been working as a freelance translator since 2011. In 2016 Catherine worked for the Viennese notaries huppmann, poindl, pfaffenberger & partner as a freelance translator in the field of corporate law.
Since 2011, Catherine has been translating texts for both agencies and private clients in a wide range of specialist areas (law, technology, economics…)

Why did I become a translator?
I grew up bilingual with German and French and wanted to take advantage of this.
What motivates me and drives me in my profession?
I love dealing with texts, researching, facing new challenges and dealing intensively with a topic. I also love my independence as a translator. That is the beauty of translating.
What do I like to translate best?
I prefer to translate legal or technical texts. However, I also enjoy translating general language texts.
