FURTHER CAMBRIDGE CERTIFICATES

FCE

First Certificate in English (FCE), colloquially called First, is the first ESOL exam. The abbreviation ESOL stands for “English for Speakers of Other Languages”, but since 2013 the exam programme has been renamed “Cambridge English Language Assessment”.

Internationally recognized language test, comparable to TOEFL & valid for life!

CAE

The Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) is a language certificate from the University of Cambridge. It is the second highest ESOL exam. The certificate entitles the holder to study at universities in Great Britain.

CPE (Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency)

This certificate is the most demanding of the English exams of the University of Cambridge.

It is aimed at people who are not native English speakers and proves that the persons concerned have reached a very high level of English and can communicate in almost any situation with confidence and accuracy.

What is the CPE needed for?

The CPE is recognised by many universities as an entry requirement for English-language courses, but often the less comprehensive CAE or FCE tests are sufficient.

As the highest possible exam within the ESOL examinations, the CPE level is also one level higher than the globally recognised Business English Certificate of the highest level (BEC Higher).
